Shannon Briggs, Ph.D.
Dr. Shannon Briggs is a Toxicologist and the Beach Monitoring Coordinator for the Water Resources Division of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. She manages federal and state grant funds for beach monitoring programs and provides toxicological support for pollution prevention programs. She is coordinating an effort with Michigan State University and the United States Environmental Protection Agency to equip and train local health departments to use a new rapid method for testing beaches. She is also a co-founder, Past-President, and active member of the Great Lakes Beach Association (GLBA) that held its annual conference in Michigan for the past two years. Dr. Briggs also helps teach the Beach Monitoring 101 classes for the National Beach Conference and the Annual GLBA Conference.
